Terms of Service

Welcome to Afayer. By creating an account or using any part of our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, you must not use Afayer.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Afayer ("we", "our", or "us"). Your continued use of theAfayer mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service") constitutes your ongoing acceptance of these Terms and any updates we publish.

2. Eligibility

To use Afayer you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a Muslim who is sincerely seeking marriage (nikah) — Afayer is a faith-based marriage platform, not a general dating app.
  • Be legally free to marry in your jurisdiction. If you are in a polygamous situation permitted under applicable law, you must disclose your marital status honestly on your profile.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your country of residence.

By registering, you represent and warrant that all of the above conditions are true. Afayer reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove any account that does not meet these requirements.

3. Account Registration

  • Accurate information: You must provide truthful, current, and complete information during registration and keep it up to date.
  • One account per person: You may only hold one active Afayer account. Creating duplicate or backup accounts is prohibited.
  • Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at afayer.com@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • No account sharing: Your account is personal and non-transferable. You may not share your credentials with anyone else.

4. The Service

Afayer is a halal Muslim marriage platform designed to help Muslims find a compatible spouse in a way that aligns with Islamic values. Our core features include:

  • Islamic filters: Search by sect, madhab, prayer habits, ethnicity, languages, education, and 20+ Islamic criteria.
  • Chaperone (Wali) Mode: Invite a guardian or family member to oversee your conversations, enabling courtship in a halal environment.
  • Photo privacy: Your photos are blurred by default and only revealed to members you choose to share them with. Screenshot alerts are enforced.
  • Verified profiles: Optional photo and ID verification to build trust and authenticity across the community.
  • In-app calling: Voice and video calls take place entirely within the app — no phone number sharing required.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or aspect of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable Use

When using Afayer you agree to:

  • Maintain an honest, up-to-date profile that reflects who you genuinely are.
  • Approach other members with sincerity and a genuine intention to seek marriage.
  • Treat every member with respect, dignity, and Islamic adab (etiquette), regardless of background.
  • Use chaperone mode as intended — to facilitate supervised, appropriate conversation — and not to circumvent it.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

6. Prohibited Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on Afayer:

  • Impersonation or catfishing: Using someone else's identity, photos, or name.
  • Fake or misleading profiles: Providing false information about yourself, including age, marital status, or faith.
  • Harassment or abuse: Sending threatening, offensive, or unwanted messages; repeatedly contacting someone who has not responded or has asked you to stop.
  • Bypassing the platform: Sharing personal contact details (phone numbers, social media handles, WhatsApp) with the intent to move communication off Afayer before a genuine connection is established.
  • Explicit content: Sending or displaying sexually explicit, suggestive, or inappropriate material of any kind.
  • Promoting haram activities: Advertising, soliciting, or encouraging any activity that is prohibited in Islam or violates these Terms.
  • Scams and fraud: Soliciting money, gifts, or financial information from other members.
  • Automated access or scraping: Using bots, scripts, or any automated means to access, collect, or interact with the Service.
  • Hate speech: Content that demeans, discriminates against, or incites hatred towards any person or group based on religion, race, ethnicity, gender, or disability.

Violations may result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban, at our sole discretion.

7. Photo & Privacy Controls

Afayer is built with modesty at its core. Your photos are blurred by default and only revealed when you explicitly choose to share them with a specific member. Screenshot alerts notify you if another user attempts to capture your private photos. You are solely responsible for the content of the photos you upload; all photos must comply with our Community Guidelines.

8. Verification

Afayer offers optional photo verification (a real-time selfie check) and ID verification (government document + selfie). Both are designed to increase trust within the community. Biometric data processed during photo verification (via Microsoft Azure Face API) is used solely to confirm liveness and is not retained after verification is complete. ID documents are handled securely and deleted after review.

9. Subscriptions & Payments

Afayer offers free and premium subscription tiers. Premium features unlock advanced filters, unlimited likes, read receipts, and more. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Prices and available tiers are displayed within the app. Refund eligibility is subject to the applicable App Store (Apple) or Play Store (Google) policies. We do not process payment details directly — all transactions are handled by the respective platform stores.

10. Intellectual Property

Afayer and all its content, features, and technology — including but not limited to the logo, UI, algorithms, and underlying code — are owned by Afayer and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of content you upload (photos, profile text, messages) but grant Afayer a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service. This licence ends when you delete your account.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. We will process your deletion and remove your personal data within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Afayer reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, posed a risk to the safety of our community, or for any other lawful reason.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Afayer does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular match will result in marriage. We are not responsible for the conduct, statements, or actions of any user on or off the platform. Use of Afayer is at your own risk.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Afayer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Afayer in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Afayer is registered, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
